Becoming a part of Paramount means joining a team of passionate people who not only recognize the power of content but also enjoy a touch of fun and uniqueness. Overview:

As a video producer at The Free Press, you’ll play a vital role in our editorial operations, helping lead our social video output, creating original short-form video as well as working across podcasts and shows to make sure that every piece of Free Press video journalism finds its audience.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Create original short-form video for our social channels

  • Convert a wide range of Free Press content, from deep investigations to punchy columns, into compelling short-form video

  • Work across midform and podcasts, offering input, support and guidance for producers and editors on our shows and other video products

  • Identify viral moments from Free Press shows and long-form video content and package them for social channels

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience

  • Social video production and editing

  • Well-developed visual storytelling capabilities

  • Proficiency with design tools like Canva and Photoshop

  • Design software experience is considered a required qualification

Additional Qualifications:

  • A video-native storyteller, obsessed with what makes content break through — a news junkie who understands the 24/7 cycle and online commentary culture

  • Strong in horizontal and vertical video, with sharp instincts for hooks, framing, pacing, and timing

  • Confidence in scriptwriting with flair and meticulousness with tight, accurate copy that never drifts from the facts

  • An accomplished editor, comfortable taking a video from raw material to published post without hand-holding

  • Fluent in design tools (Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator) for thumbnails, graphics, and packaging

  • Familiarity with podcast workflows and the ability to spot the moment worth clipping

  • Ability to contribute to scripts and episode prep and speak the language of the podcast team

  • Genuinely fluent in TFP's singular brand, voice, and ethos — you read us, watch us, and listen to us already

  • A self-starter who sees the moment, makes the thing and sets it free
